It seems that everyone is finally over all their numerous illnesses! Thank goodness! It was like a never-ending cycle there for a while. Now it’s time to get back to a schedule. Parker’s birthday party was held last week a the skating rink. Fun was had by all!

A couple of my kids’ favorite things are games and money. Combine the two and you have a couple of happy kids! I found the game Making Cents online (I can’t remember where to give credit). It’s very simple and uses things that everyone will have on hand.
Needed:
- one die
- 25 pennies
- 10 nickels
- 10 dimes
- 1 quarter
Players take turns rolling the dice. The ‘bank’ pays players a penny for each number rolled. When the player gets 5 pennies or more, he trades them to the bank for a nickel, and so on. The first player to get a quarter wins!
Parker and Sophie really enjoyed this game and we played a bunch of times. The games do not last very long so that is a plus too!

Wow! I can’t believe Parker turned 6 yesterday! Since he is having a skating party on Saturday we kept it pretty low-keyed.

Parker has been missing Short Granny (my grandma) and yesterday he sat down and drew a picture of her house. While he was drawing, he mentioned how it was always fall at her house. She has woods behind her house and there are always leaves on the ground in the woods. Makes sense to me!

The kids had a blast this Halloween. Parker was a skeleton, Sophie a witch, and Sarah was Pippi.
